The assay utilizes the caspase-8 inhibitor, IETD-FMK, conjugated to FITC (FITC-IETD-FMK) as a fluorescent in situ marker. FITC-IETD-FMK is cell permeable, nontoxic, and irreversibly binds to activated caspase-8 in apoptotic cells.
