• Description: MIP-1 (Macrophage Inflammatory Protein 1 or CCL3) is a monocyte chemoattractant which has chemoattractant and adhesive effects on lymphocytes, preferentially attracting CD8+ cells. MIP-1 has also been shown to attract B cells and also eosinophils. It has also been identified as a stem cell inhibitory factor which can inhibit the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells in vitro and in vivo. Receptors for MIP-1 are CCR1 and CCR5.

• Bio-activity: Activity measured by the protein's ability to chemoattract cultured human monocytes. ED50 for this effect is 2-12 ng/ml.

• Reconstitution: Recommended reconstitution in sterile phosphate buffered saline which contains at least 0.1% human or bovine serum albumin to prepare a stocksolution of no less than 20 μg/ml and vortex thoroughly.
