• Background: The CD45R antigen is expressed throughout B cell development from the pro-B cell stage on, but it is down-regulated during the differentiation of B cells into plasma cells. Expression levels of CD45R are different among distinct B cell subpopulations. Memory B cells are CD45Rlow/-. CD45R is also weakly expressed on a small subset of peripheral T cells, but is not detected on thymocytes.
• Application: B cells isolated from bone marrow or peripheral lymphoid organs can be used for in vitro or ex vivo analysis of B cell lymphopoiesis and B cell migration. B cells purified with CD45R MicroBeads can be used for studies on the mechanism and regulation of immunoglobulin gene rearrangement.
