Description : | Vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the VEGFA gene. This gene is a member of the platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF)/vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) family and encodes a protein that is often found as a disulfide linked homodimer. As its name implies, VEGF-A activity has been studied mostly on cells of the vascular endothelium, although it does have effects on a number of other cell types. |
