Description : Il4i1 wasfirst identified in mouse B cells as part of the response to IL-4, a keyregulator of the immune response. Later, the enzyme was shown to be a memberof the flavin-containing amino acid oxidase family and closely related toL-amino acid oxidases. Enzymological characterization reveals that Il4i1 hasL-amino acid oxidase activity with preference toward aromatic amino acids.Its limited expression in immune tissues, dendritic cells, and macrophagesindicates that it may play an importantfunction in the immune system.
