Species : | Sambucus nigra |
Source : | Sambucus nigra |
Tag : | Non |
Description : | Sambucus nigra lectin, isolated from elderberry bark, binds preferentially to sialic acid attached to terminal galactose in α-2,6 and to a lesser degree, α-2,3 linkage. Binding is also inhibited to some extent by lactose or galactose. This lectin does not appear to bind sialic acid linked to N-acetylgalactosamine. SNA has been reported to inhibit cell-free protein synthesis. |
Form : | 10 mM HEPES, 0.15 M NaCl, pH 7.5, 0.08% sodium azide, 0.1 mM Ca2+, 0.01 mM Mn2+, and a protein stabilizer. |
Bio-activity : | Carbohydrate-Binding Specificity: Sialic Acid |
Molecular Mass : | 140 kDa |
Applications : | Immunofluorescence, Glycobiology |
Usage : | The recommended concentration range for use is 5-20 µg/ml. |
Storage : | Refrigerate in the dark. If a precipitate forms upon long-term storage at 4 centigrade, warm to 37 centigrade and centrifuge before use. |
Concentration : | 1 mg/ml |
