Description : | This lectin is composed of four subunits of identical size and is immunologically related to GNL and NPL. Amaryllis lectin binds only α-mannose residues, unlike Con A, LCA and PSA that also bind α-glucosyl structures. Like NPL there appears to be an extended binding site for polymannose structures, not requiring mannose to be at the non-reducing terminus. HHL binds both (α-1,3) and (α-1,6) linked mannose structures, as well as some yeast galactomannans. |
