UBE2I
-
Official Full Name
ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2I -
Overview
UBC9 is a member of the E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family that is involved in ubiquitin-dependent protein degradation system (1). Ubiquitination involves at least three classes of enzymes: ubiquitin-activating enzymes, ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes and ubiquitin-protein ligases. UBC9 can function as a co-factor of PLAGL2, uncoupling its enzymatic activity to mediate PLAGL2 interactive SP-C promoter activity (2). UBC9 also plays an important role in the up-regulation of the bone morphogenetic protein signaling pathway. -
