PANK1

  • Official Full Name

    pantothenate kinase 1
  • Overview

coaA (pantothenate kinase) belongs to the prokaryotic pantothenate kinase family. Pantothenate kinase (PanK; CoaA) is the first enzyme in the Coenzyme A biosynthetic pathway. It phophorylates pantothenate (vitamin B5) to form 4'-phosphopantothenate. Regulation of pantothenate kinase activity by feedback inhibition is the critical factor controlling the intracellular CoA concentration.
