PIGR

  • Official Full Name

    polymeric immunoglobulin receptor
  • Overview

This gene is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. The encoded poly-Ig receptor binds polymeric immunoglobulin molecules at the basolateral surface of epithelial cells; the complex is then transported across the cell to be secreted at the apical surface. A significant association was found between immunoglobulin A nephropathy and several SNPs in this gene.

    Protein Function

PIGR has several biochemical functions, for example, polymeric immunoglobulin receptor activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by PIGR itself. We selected most functions PIGR had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with PIGR. You can find most of the proteins on our site.
