HERC5

  • Official Full Name

    hect domain and RLD 5
  • Overview

This gene is a member of the HERC family of ubiquitin ligases and encodes a protein with a HECT domain and five RCC1 repeats. Pro-inflammatory cytokines upregulate expression of this gene in endothelial cells. The protein localizes to the cytoplasm and perinuclear region and functions as an interferon-induced E3 protein ligase that mediates ISGylation of protein targets. The gene lies in a cluster of HERC family genes on chromosome 4.

    Protein Function

HERC5 has several biochemical functions, for example, ISG15 transferase activity, ligase activity, poly(A) RNA binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by HERC5 itself. We selected most functions HERC5 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with HERC5. You can find most of the proteins on our site.
