REL

  • Official Full Name

    v-rel reticuloendotheliosis viral oncogene homolog
  • Overview

NF-κB (nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells) is a protein complex that controls the transcription of DNA. NF-κB is found in almost all animal cell types and is involved in cellular responses to stimuli such as stress, cytokines, free radicals, ultraviolet irradiation, oxidized LDL, and bacterial or viral antigens. NF-κB plays a key role in regulating the immune response to infection (kappa light chains are critical components of immunoglobulins). Incorrect regulation of NF-κB has been linked to cancer, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, septic shock, viral infection, and improper immune development. NF-κB has also been implicated in processes of synaptic plasticity and memory.

    Protein Function

REL has several biochemical functions, for example, RNA polymerase II distal enhancer sequence-specific DNA binding, chromatin binding, protein binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by REL itself. We selected most functions REL had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with REL. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

    Interacting Protein

REL has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with REL here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of REL.
