IGBP1 immunoglobulin (CD79A) binding protein 1 -
Overview
CD79 is a dimeric transmembrane protein that is associated with membrane immunoglobulin and initiates B-cell signaling following engagement of the latter by antigen.1-3 The 2 component chains of CD79, referred to as CD79a and CD79b. CD79a as well as CD79b is purported to be a B cellspecific antigen. CD79a expression begins at the earliest pro-B stage of development and continues throughout Bcell differentiation to the plasma cell stage,6 making it one of the most useful panB-cell markers used in routine immunophenotypic analysis. In addition, CD79a expression seems to be restricted to B-lineage cells (ie,a diagnostically specific B-cell marker). -
