HERC2

  • Official Full Name

    hect domain and RLD 2
  • Overview

This gene belongs to the HERC gene family that encodes a group of unusually large proteins, which contain multiple structural domains. All members have at least 1 copy of an N-terminal region showing homology to the cell cycle regulator RCC1 and a C-terminal HECT (homologous to E6-AP C terminus) domain found in a number of E3 ubiquitin protein ligases. Genetic variations in this gene are associated with skin/hair/eye pigmentation variability.

    Protein Function

HERC2 has several biochemical functions, for example, SUMO binding,UDP-N-acetylmuramoylalanyl-D-glutamyl-2,6-diaminopimelate-D-alanyl-D-alanine ligase activity, coenzyme F420-0 gamma-glutamyl ligase activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by HERC2 itself. We selected most functions HERC2 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with HERC2. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

    Interacting Protein

HERC2 has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with HERC2 here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of HERC2.
