CRAT
-
Official Full Name
carnitine O-acetyltransferase -
Overview
This gene encodes carnitine acetyltransferase (CRAT), which is a key enzyme in the metabolic pathway in mitochondria, peroxisomes and endoplasmic reticulum. CRAT catalyzes the reversible transfer of acyl groups from an acyl-CoA thioester to carnitine and regulates the ratio of acylCoA/CoA in the subcellular compartments. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants; additional transcript variants have been described, but their biological validity has not been determined. -

Protein Function
CRAT has several biochemical functions, for example, carnitine O-acetyltransferase activity, receptor binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by CRAT itself. We selected most functions CRAT had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with CRAT. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

Interacting Protein
CRAT has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with CRAT here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of CRAT.
