| Scientific Background: | Histone H3 undergoes many modifications including acetylation, methylation, and phosphorylation that are important for regulation of gene transcription. Methylation at lysine 27 of histone 3 (H3K27) is tightly associated with inactive gene promoters and thought to be critical for the repression of developmental genes. EZH2 is the only known methyltransferase to catalyze the trimethylation of H3K27. |
