Cat.No.: | EL-0389 |
Product Name: | HT-29 nuclear extract |
Description: | HT-29 nuclear extract was prepared from a cell culture of the human colorectal adenocarcinoma HT-29 cell line. The HT-29 cell line was originally derived from intestinal tumor tissue obtained from a 44 year old Caucasian female patient with colorectal adenocarcinoma. HT-29 cells are morphologically epithelial, are CD4 negative, and produce carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and immunoglobulin A (IgA). This cell line contains a mutation in codon 273 of the p53 gene that results in an Arg>His substitution. In the absence of carbohydrates, HT-29 cells differentiate into polarized epithelium and, therefore, have been used as in vitro model systems to study epithelial differentiation. However, the HT-29 cell line is most commonly used in research as a model for colorectal cancer in studies related to growth and tumorigenicity. |
