L3MBTL1 3xMBT contains the three MBT repeat domains present in the protein. L3MBTL1 is a member of the Polycomb group of proteins and the wild type protein binds to broad range of proteins that exhibit mono- and dimethylation, including histone H1, histone H4, p53 and Rb. The D355N mutant version contains an asparagine at position 355 which abrogates methyl-lysine binding. |
