Significance: S-SC hydrolyzes sucrose into absorbable monosaccharides. Its activity correlates with soil organic matter, N, P content, microbial population, and soil respiration, serving as an indicator of soil fertility.
Principle: S-SC catalyzes sucrose into reducing sugars, which react with 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acid to form a brown-red compound with characteristic absorbance at 510 nm.
