Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) is an amphiphilic molecule widely used in protein extraction, purification, and antigen preparation in biopharmaceutical processes. Residual SDS is toxic to animals and humans; therefore, monitoring SDS residues is essential.
This kit consists of 0.1% SDS standard solution, staining reagent, and extraction reagent. SDS forms a complex with the dye, which is extracted into the organic phase. Unbound dye remains in the aqueous phase. The absorbance of the extracted complex at its characteristic wavelength correlates linearly with SDS concentration. A standard curve can be generated using diluted SDS standards. The method shows good linearity (R² ≥ 0.99) within the concentration range of 0.001%–0.01% SDS.
