Citric Acid (OA) Content Assay Kit

Product Overview :
Oxalic acid is a dicarboxylic acid commonly found in plant tissues. As an antagonist of mineral elements, consuming vegetables with high oxalic acid content over a long period can easily lead to diseases such as arthritis, hypocalcemia, and kidney stones. Oxalic acid can serve as a complexing agent, bleaching agent, precipitating agent, and reducing agent, and it is widely used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, dyeing, and plastics. Fe3+ can react with sulfosalicylic acid under acidic conditions to form a purple complex, which has a characteristic absorption peak at 510 nm. Oxalic acid and oxalate can lighten the color of this purple complex, and the absorbance value of the Fe3+ and sulfosalicylic acid complex decreases with the increase of oxalic acid. By detecting changes in absorbance, the oxalic acid content can be determined.
