Significance of Measurement: Reduced glutathione (GSH) is a major non-enzymatic antioxidant in cells. It participates in detoxification, redox regulation, and maintenance of cellular homeostasis. Measurement of GSH content is widely used to assess oxidative stress and cellular antioxidant capacity.
Principle of Measurement: GSH reacts with chromogenic reagents to form a yellow-colored product with a characteristic absorbance at 412 nm. GSH content is calculated based on absorbance at this wavelength.
