Product Overview :
Significance of Measurement: Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH) is the rate-limiting enzyme of the pentose phosphate pathway. It generates NADPH, which is essential for reductive biosynthesis and protection against oxidative stress. G6PDH activity is widely used as an indicator of cellular redox status and metabolic activity.
Principle of Measurement: G6PDH catalyzes the oxidation of glucose-6-phosphate to 6-phosphogluconolactone while reducing NADP+ to NADPH. The formation of NADPH results in an increase in absorbance at 340 nm, which is proportional to enzyme activity.
